Abstract
With further reform of New Course (2001),Cooperative Learning has been thoroughly researched and it also has become the most popular teaching model in the new curriculum reform. Cooperative Learning (CL) has its advantages on arousing students’ interest, creating learning atmosphere and developing students’ ability of cooperation, which makes it very popular in English teaching. However, due to the superficial understanding of CL, when teachers apply CL to English teaching, there are some problems, like the teaching efficiency and difficulties in managing students. So the dissertation aims to improve the teaching efficiency by analyzing the purposes and significance of CL, the problems of CL and the causes for these problems and some solutions.
