Abstract
In this paper, the current circumstance of English teachers and students in the classroom teaching is used as the research object, using the method of observation and investigation to introduce in detail that how teachers should conduct effective questioning, which embraces the types, characteristics and the importance of effective questioning. Effective questioning plays an critical role in classroom teaching, which is the critical factor to realize the teaching process, but some problems about questioning still exist in English classroom teaching. And the thinking of effective questioning status in English classroom can make educators aware of the importance of effective questions and problems in the current teaching, which can cause their thinking and attention, and take the initiative to learn some methods and strategies of effective questioning. Effective questioning in the classroom will help improve the quality of teaching, save unnecessary time and energy, but also contributes to the development of students' innovation ability, and enhance the affection between teachers and students.
