Abstract
Alice Munro is a famous Canadian writer, and her short story collection Runaway won the Giller Prize, The book tells stories of several common women in the process of growing up in the face of family and social dilemma and they choose a different way to escape. Munro is good at writing their life experience and mental state with her keen insight and delicate touch. This study analyzes the growth of the women in the novel, who experience the awakening of feminist consciousness under the patriarchal oppression, and it also reflects the loneliness and alienation of modern people.
