Abstract
Wuthering Heights is the only novel written by Emily Jane Bronte, the British famous woman writer. It described the tragic love of the hero and heroine in the 19th century Britain. Their love tragedy is both the tragedy of the society and their own. This paper explores the roots of the love tragedy of Heathcliff and Catherine from the perspectives of the social system at that time, and characters’ personality and their growing experiences, as well as the tragedy of the author own.
