Abstract
Tragedy consciousness and death plot is the kernel of Hemingway's literature works, or more precisely, life and death theme distinguishes Hemingway. This thesis is a study on Hemingway’s death plot from his famous novel the Snows of Kilimanjaro. It is safe to say that the analysis of this death theme gives access to appreciating and admiring Hemingway and it is believed that it will lead readers to deeper understanding of Hemingway. The Snows of Kilimanjaro is written by Hemingway in his early writing career. From the journey of Harry’s death, we can learn about the exploration and thinking of life. This novel is Hemingway’s real life experience, especially about the Hemingway’s post-war life. In Hemingway’s works, death is not a desperate ending, but the reflection of life and the pursuit of the eternal soul.
