Abstract
In recent years, dialect television programs show a rapid development trend and achieve considerable ratings with distinctive regional color and people-friendly expression mode. This thesis applies Verschueren’s Linguistic Adaptability Principle into the analysis on the linguistic features of dialect television programs from a pragmatic perspective. This paper synthesizes language, cognition, society, culture and other factors to conduct comprehensive research on adaptions in dialect television programs. The results show the reason why dialect television programs enjoy great popularity is that their linguistic features comply with the Linguistic Adaptability Principle, making adjustments to the audience’s cognitive psychology and regional demand.
