Abstract
With the development of the modern entertainment industry, talk show, as a brand-new form of TV program, is emerging at an amazing speed. The Cooperative Principle put forward by Grice, has been applied widely in conversational analysis. Although the Cooperative Principle is oriented to oral communication, it is applied to the translation of written articles for translation is a special kind of communication activity. This paper cites a variety of examples to study the application of Cooperative Principle in English talk shows as well as their translation. It is designed to fill up the gap in research of the English talk shows with the help of pragmatic theory, and aims to help the Chinese audience better understand and appreciate the English talk shows.
