Abstract: In Nineteen Eighty-four, George Orwell depicted a society filled with terror and constraint in which power was the only purpose for the government. The thoughts and the behavior of the people had to be monitored and limited strictly. The government power only belonged to the minority who regarded the power as the most important rule for their dominance and wielded and developed it to the ultimate. The anti-totalitarianism of the author was originated with his rich but bumpy experience. Through analyzing the ideological control and distortion of the human nature in the totalitarian society, we could deeply understand the author's anti-totalitarianism and the nature of the totalitarianism which was against the humanity and historical trend.
