Abstract: As we all know, English writing plays an important role in the second language acquisition. It takes a significant proportion in a variety of English tests. However, there are a lot of writing problems among students that so many teachers and scholars pay much attention to study how to teach students’ writing effectively. Undoubtedly, it has become an urgent task in the research of English teaching. With the development of English teaching, more and more teachers use the imitation,namely, the model-imitation in teaching, to teach English writing. According to the Memetics, Behaviorism epistemology and Constructivism epistemology, model-imitation is supposed to be a good teaching approach to teach English writing. After this study, imitation-writing is proved to be one of the most effective ways to improve students’ writing ability. It also helps students establish interest and confidence in English writing.
