Abstract

Hero worship is a usual cultural psychological and cultural love knot. Hero, as a product of culture, can indicate the spirit and the standards of it are not unique according to the culture. Heroism, as a special form of culture, enriches people’s behavior, and stimulates the society’s improvement. However, because of the various standards people have for heroism, hero images also show differently in different cultures.

With the development of the mass media ,movies have become a main part of social and cultural life. Movies ,as a carrier of culture ,are directed by different countries to depict their values of their hero. As the globalization era is increasingly significant, movies bear the responsibility of each country’s core cultural competitiveness and the responsibility to accelerate the integration of various ethnic cultures.

In the paper, the author chooses the movie “Ant-man” to represent western cultures and“ Hero” to represent eastern cultures. The paper describes the similarities and differences of heroism in the two cultures by comparing “Hero” in Chinese movies and “Ant-man” in American movies. Through the comparison, people can have a general idea of the different cultures in eastern and western countries. Knowing the similarities and differences of Chinese and American heroism can help people reduce conflicts and improve the ability of intercultural communication.
