ABSTRACT
Politeness Principle means people should be polite in communication to let both be satisfactory and comfortable. This paper aims to find out some enlightenments of Politeness Principle on high school English teaching.
Through literature study and case analysis, the current study first finds some embodiments of Politeness Principle in people’s daily life and then finds out the possible enlightenments of Politeness Principle on Chinese high school English teaching, including enlightenments in teaching new lessons, correcting homework and exams as well as in communicating with students after class. It is concluded that high school English teachers should pay attention to “politeness” in the whole process of teaching English, which is conducive to making the class more satisfactory and more effective.
