Abstract: Human communication falls into two forms: verbal communication and nonverbal communication. Nonverbal communication is one of important supplementary means of communication, accounting for 65% in our daily interaction. This thesis gives a general introduction of its historical background, its definitions and its classifications. Based on the eight speakers’ videos from The 19th China Daily “21st Century · Coca-Cola Cup” National English Speaking Competition, the research of the thesis aims to analyze the usage of nonverbal communicative behavior in the speeches and enlightenment on delivering speeches. Finally, according to the results and analysis of this study, the author makes some suggestions concerning nonverbal communicative behavior for both teachers and students.
