Abstract: This paper aims to investigate the eco-feminist features reflected in The Grass Is Singing through the research on the whole life of Mary Turner and Mary’s tragedy due to patriarchy and racial discrimination. It mainly discusses the destruction of nature caused by man motivated by self-interest, the contradiction produced by patriarchy, especially the contradiction between females influenced by male-domination, and the relationship between the oppression on women and natural degradation. The paper mainly emphasizes the love and respect among people and criticizes different forms of inequality.
Key words: eco-feminism; contradiction; patriarchy
