Abstract: This paper does the research on the application of the situational teaching method in dialogue teaching in primary school through the literature research method, case analysis and observational method. It aims to make people aware that situational teaching is beneficial for pupils to improve their comprehensive language application ability. By studying the definition of the situational teaching method, the feasibility, advantages, characteristics of the dialogue teaching, different means of situational teaching method in different contexts, principles and so on, it shows that the situational teaching plays an important role in English dialogue teaching in primary school. It not only arouses pupils’ learning interest and potential intelligence and guides students to study independently, but also embodies the “people-oriented” idea and lays the foundation for lifelong learning. Ultimately, it enhances the international competitiveness of our country and promotes sustainable development.
