Abstract: Cooperative learning, as one of the most out-standing learning methods, has been proved to be of its unique value. The adoption of the cooperative learning method in classroom English teaching can effectively improve students’ cooperation ability. In the process of cooperative learning, students will gradually form the consciousness of cooperation. This thesis is to discuss the concept and the basic elements of group cooperative learning as well as its application in classroom teaching in the middle school and then explore the impact on students and teachers based on an experimental study on cooperative learning. It can be seen that cooperative learning can promote students’ autonomic learning ability, enhance students’ consciousness of exploration and cooperation, and increase their learning interest.
