Abstract
Translation variation theory has been used in translation for a long time, but it has not widely accepted in the circle of translation theory, and even considered to be the betray to the original texts. This theory has not only broadened the research scope of translation theory but also created a new theoretical form so as to provide a complete theoretical framework for the various rewriting translation methods. However, the application of this theory still needs to be further explored.
The thesis tries to apply this theory to the C-E translation practice of tourism introduction to verify the practicality of the theory. The C-E translation of the tourism texts can pass information to foreign tourists, so that visitors can be attracted by the scenic location, and the purpose of attracting tourists can be achieved. Of course, in order to get this goal, word-for-word translation simply can not achieve this expected effect. Taking cultural differences between Chinese and Western countries, and different thinking modes of readers into account, adjustment has to be made in the target text.
This thesis makes a systematic introduction of the translation variation theory, analyzes its use through examples, its limitations, and different views on its application to the translation of tourism texts.
Keywords: Translation variation; Tourism text; Chinese-English translation.
