Abstract

Translation is not only the transformation of language, but also the cultural communication and transmission. Chinese culture is extensive and profound, so only the excellent and accurate translation of Chinese culture-loaded words can promote Chinese culture effectively, which is also the glorious mission for translators.

From the perspective of Chinese culture-loaded words, and under the instruction of Skopos theory, this thesis mainly studies the proper translation strategies for the translation of specific terms of Chinese traditional festivals and customs by means of combining the three research methods, such as literature review, exemplification, and summary and conclusion. And the purpose of the study is to provide the translation system and reference which might be of significance for the translation of Chinese culture-loaded words.
