[摘要] 沈从文是我国现代著名作家,《边城》是沈从文小说的代表作，是我国现代文学史上一部优秀的抒发乡土情怀的小说。它以20世纪30年代川湘交界的边城小镇茶峒为背景，以兼具抒情诗和小品文的优美笔触，描绘了湘西地区特有的风土人情；借船家少女翠翠的爱情悲剧，凸显出了人性的善良美好与心灵的澄澈纯净。它以独特的艺术魅力，生动的乡土风情吸引了众多海内外的读者，也奠定了《边城》在中国现代文学史上的特殊地位。

沈从文的乡土小说在中国文坛独树一帜。他的创作从伦理道德的角度来观察人生，以表现人性为作品的主要内容，注重民族品德的重建，宣扬原始纯朴的人生审美理想，用温暖的抒情笔调描写“乡下人”的淳朴人生。《边城》是沈从文的代表作之一，也是支撑他所构筑的古朴的湘西世界的柱石。他通过一个纯洁的爱情故事表现了对理想的人生形式的追求。整个故事都在一种远离都市喧嚣的古朴宁静的氛围中展开，真实地再现了湘西边境的山城茶峒的优美的自然风光，恬静的生活画面，古朴的风俗民俗，塑造了一群正直，单纯，诚实，倔强，豪爽，“保持古朴习惯，遵从古礼”的人物形象。[1]这里人性皆真、皆善、皆美，用每个人身上所焕发的人性美营造了这个世界，这里看不到邪恶、奸诈和贪欲；这里有贫富区分和社会地位高低的差别，但他们都互相亲善、扶持；这里也会有矛盾，但是那绝对不是善与恶的冲突；虽然小说结局是悲剧性的，但也绝非是奸邪之徒所致。
