One day, when I got so frustrated writing this thesis that I chose to surf the internet for entertainment and relaxation, I saw an answer to the question, what’s the point in undergraduates writing theses on graduation. The answer went like, it’s the first and probably the last chance for most undergraduates to write an academic article on their own. They have to choose themes, no matter because they think them are interesting or easy, do a lot of researches, read a lot of books and grind their brains to write something logical and reasonable. It’s the last chance they have in campus to improve themselves. If allowed, I would like to thank this answer for teaching me to cherish the thesis I was writing.
This thesis is also dedicated to my mother, for her unconditional and never-changed love for me and for her always support during the whole 22 years, of which the significance is beyond words with my father’s absence since my childhood.
I thank all the teachers I’ve had in this campus regardless of the grades they gave me. As a boy from a small town, I knew barely things about English but how to finish an English paper and get a high score when I entered this campus. They helped me go into a whole new world and widen my horizon.
And I thank my campus. People always say that your campus is some place only you can curse. I must admit I’ve cursed a lot of times in June for no air conditioner in our dorm, but I really love this campus, especially the library.
I thank my roommates though they will probably never hear any praises I give to them. But after all the years of laughter and happiness.
Last but never the least, this thesis is dedicated to my tutor Ms. Li Dan, for her patience and forgiveness to my always delayed work and her help and offering of the material without which the thesis can never be done.

I wish to thank all those who have contributed their support, encouragement and advice since I first began my studies at Yancheng Teachers’ University.
In particular, I would like to thank Professor Li Jian, who has been guiding me ever since the beginning of thesis planning and has supplied me with a number of literary reviews. Professor Li helped me to choose the subject matter for this undergraduate thesis, provided me not only with insightful and critical suggestions, but also with confidence, without whose supervision, my research could not have been completed. After I finished the first draft, she offered me kind help by going through my draft and providing me with some perceptive suggestions.
