Abstract:Due to China’s Opening-up policy, more and more foreigners come to visit China. Researchers at home and abroad have attached great importance to the studies of Chinese Four-character Phrases on the introduction of Chinese tourist attractions. Chinese Four-character Phrases are the essence of Chinese language, with the characteristics of being brief and vivid images and being rhythmic, containing too much information of Chinese culture. Tourism translation is the ambassador of the culture. But most of these translations don’t pay much attention to the Chinese cultural heritage. Therefore, this thesis attempts to explore the translation strategies of Chinese Four-character Phrases on the introduction of Chinese tourist attractions, from the perspective of Domestication and Foreignization.

   This thesis focuses on exploring the translation strategies of Chinese Four-character Phrases on the introduction of Chinese tourist attractions, from the perspective of Domestication and Foreignization. On the introduction of the tourism spots’ introduction, when we do the translation, we need to be faithful not only to the description of the original tourism spots’ introduction, but also to the culture contained in them. In order to introduce Chinese culture to the foreign tourists and attract them, the translator needs to adopt the strategies of Foreignization. At the meantime, in order to avoid the foreigners misunderstanding or stiff translations, the translator needs to adopt the strategies of Domestication to explain or add it. The author of this thesis hopes that this study will have some help on the development of tourism translation.

摘要:自从改革开放以来,越来越多的外国人来华旅游,旅游景点介绍中四字词组的翻译也受到了国内外学者的重视。四字词组是汉语的精华,其特点是言简意赅,形象生动且节奏明快,其中蕴含着深厚的中国文化知识,旅游翻译是文化的使者。然而目前大多数对此的翻译没有注意到传承中国文化这方面。因此,本论文试图从异化归化理论的角度探讨汉语旅游景点介绍中四字词组的英译策略。

   本文注重于从异化归化理论的角度探讨中国苏州古典园林旅游景点介绍中四字词组的汉译英策略,我们不仅要忠实于原文对旅游景点的描述,更要忠实于原文中的文化信息。为了介绍中国文化,吸引外国游客,译者需要采取异化为主的策略;另一方面,为了避免误解或翻译的僵硬,译者可以用归化的策略进行解释或补充。希望对旅游翻译的发展起到一定的促进作用。
