Abstract: With the entry of China into the WTO , China attracts more and more foreigners because of rich tour resources. Tourism is booming in China. Shaoguan is a big tourist city in Guangdong Province with many tourist attractions. The translation quality of tourist attractions’names has great effects on the external propaganda of Shaoguan and its image.This paper, therefore, discusses the characteristics and the kinds of the name of tourist attractions,analyzes the situation and problems exist in the translation of scenery spots, adopts two translation strategies(foreigniztion and domestication) and unites some common translation skills to discuss the English translation of the names of tourist attractions in Shaoguan, finally provides some advice.

摘要:随着中国进入世界贸易组织, 由于丰富的旅游资源,到中国旅游的外国客人越来越多。中国的旅游业正在蓬勃发展。韶关是广东的旅游资源大市,旅游景点颇多。旅游景点名称翻译质量的好坏直接影响到韶关旅游的对外宣传和形象。因此,本文讨论了旅游景点名称的特点及分类,分析当前景点翻译的状况和存在的问题,并采用两种翻译策略(“归化”和“异化”),结合几种常用的翻译方法,对韶关几个旅游景点名称的英文翻译进行初步的探讨,最后提出了一些建议。
