Abstract: Language is the carrier of culture; kinship term is not only a part of language but also a kind of culture. Chinese cultural tradition attaches importance to people’s title and human relations while the western society is human-oriented and considers the titles no more than addressing terms. Such difference in their views of value endows the kinship terms in the East and West with their own distinct features, which in turn makes the translating of such terms more complicated. Through the comparative analysis of the usages and meanings of kinship addressing systems between Chinese and English，the paper, by revealing the respective cultural implication and connotation in them, brings forward three methods in translating kinship terms between Chinese and English.

摘要:语言是文化的载体 ,称谓不仅是一种语言现象 ,更是一种文化现象。中国文化传统“重名分，讲人伦”，而西方社会“人为本，名为用”，这种价值观念的不同使中西方在称谓系统上存在明显差异。在具体的翻译实践中，中西的文化差异及具体的语用场合使一些称谓语的英汉、汉英翻译复杂起来。本文试图从人们较为熟悉的英汉亲属称谓习惯和语义进行比较分析 ,揭示其中所隐含的文化意蕴，并通过两种语言称谓系统的归纳对比 ,挖掘各自的文化内涵 ,对中英称谓语的翻译提出三种方法。
