Abstract:Language is the important carrier and microcosm of culture. As a special language form, American slang holds a large proportion in American language. American slang exhibits peculiar language styles in American culture, and also directly reflects the strong American social culture. This thesis attempts to study American slangs from social-linguistic perspective , explore the cultural features embodied in American slangs, and analyze the importance and social functions of American slangs in American culture . The thesis aims to help students have the knowledge about American slang so as to achieve a deeper understanding of American culture and American society.
