Abstract

 

As many of the business relations are conducted in the form of letters, business texts have played a very important role in trade. It is the most commonly used method between importers and exporters. The preposition “to” is the most common and most flexible function word in English texts, which connect the sentences more precisely. The paper may analyze the preposition “to” from the angle of cognitive semantics in the business texts namely business contracts, business correspondence and etc. For the reasons of the features of this study, the meanings and patterns of the function words should be analyzed carefully and in detail.
