Abstract

 

With the development of global science and technology, large numbers of products are made to meet people’s material and spiritual demands, including cosmetic products. China is a country with large population; its broad consuming market and strong consuming power make many countries engaged to entering Chinese market, particularly since China’s entry to the WTO. Therefore, it is common to see foreign products in Chinese people’s life.

This thesis aims at making an analysis of cosmetic specification translation from the perspective of Skopos Theory. By discussing the application of Skopos Theory in the specifications, it points out that Skopos Theory should be the principle of cosmetic specification translation in order to realize commercial purposes. The thesis also uses Text Typology of Reiss to analyze translation strategies and proposes effective translation methods for sailing.
