Abstract
Long Day’s Journey into Night is an autobiographical work, which is regarded as the best among all of the author’s works. Since the book had been published, it has caught the attention of many scholars at home and abroad. It is a common technique to interpret literary works with the perspective of psychoanalysis, Modern psychology has a great influence on literature and literary criticism, what’s more, Freud's psychoanalytic theory which studies such as automatism, libido and sexual satisfaction, unconscious behavior, has changed the idea about people's behavior. Among the theses which are related to the book, It’s more common to analyze its tragic and dramatic theme than its characters’ spirit, behaviors. This article will read this book from the perspective of psychology, so as to reveal the influence of psychoanalytic theory on it; and psychoanalysis criticism method will be used as the guide, helping to make a more reasonable interpretation to the characters so that the drama's tragic theme can be easier got.
