Abstract
Junior School English Curriculum Standards points out: “The English teaching organically combining emotional education will encourage students to learn from each other, to help each other, to experience the collective sense of honor and to develop the spirit of cooperation.” Improving English reading ability has been an important goal of junior school English teaching. Cooperative Learning (CL)can mobilize the enthusiasm of students and improve the effectiveness of English reading teaching. This paper expounds the application of CL in junior school English reading teaching and summarizes the advantages of using CL in English reading teaching. At the same time, it makes recommendations for teachers who are likely to overlook problems in the process of reading teaching when using CL .
