Abstract: As a branch of language learning strategies, the vocabulary learning strategy plays an important role in learning and memorizing English vocabulary. The study explores English majors' use of the strategy through questionnaires. The participants are one hundred and twenty English majors in Nanjing Xiaozhuang University. It is found that English majors don't often use English vocabulary strategies, among which cognitive strategies are most frequently used, followed by memory strategies and meta-cognitive strategy is the least frequently used. Except for meta-cognitive strategies, there was no significant difference in the use of the 3 categories of strategies among English majors from different grades.
