Abstract:Recently, People's Daily is collecting the English names of Shunde food------one kind of Cantonese cuisine. However, the Shunde chefs are very worried about how to introduce Shunde food to the foreign friends because thereare no fixed English names of Shunde Dish Names. Therefore, from June 17, Guangzhou Daily, Shunde Golden Edition and Shunde Food Association launched a program to summon the society for the collection of 18 classic folk Shunde dish names translation, which pays the way for Shunde dish, and even for Cantonese cuisine to go out to the world. 

   The English translation of Shunde Dish Names is just a beginning, so there is not so much related research thesis about the English translation of Shunde Dish Names.

   Therefore, how does the English name of Shunde food embody the traditional Chinese culture characteristics, this thesis will analyze it from the core of the German function translation theory--the Skopos theory, focusing on the translation of the English name of Shunde food .The author of the thesis will analyze the translation of Shunde dish names from the perspective of Skopos Theory.

摘要:最近,人民日报在征集粤菜系之顺德菜名的英译菜单,为此,6月17日开始,《广州日报.顺德金版》与顺德饮食协会一起推出了顺德菜征集“洋名”的策划,并向社会公开征集到18道顺德经典菜式的民间译名,为顺德菜乃至粤菜走向世界进行探路。

   顺德菜英译菜名的征集刚刚才是个开始,因此,现在没有太多关于顺德菜单英译研究的论文。

   那么顺德菜单的英译如何体现顺德地区饮食文化的特色,如何投消费者之所好,激发他们的食欲,并传播顺德的饮食文化,是顺德菜名英译的目的。本文将以德国功能派的核心翻译理论——目的论为视角,简析顺德菜名英译使用的原则并重点考察菜单翻译中的实用性方面。从目的论出发对这些菜名进行分析。
