Abstract: Moment in Peking is one of the most important books in LinYutang’s life. The author depicts people’s life during the period of the Republic of China. In this book, the main story involves three families: the Yaos’, the Tsengs’ and the News’. With the whole story developed by time, the author shows us people’s different attitudes towards love, marriage and life under the influence of Taoism, Confucianism, and Buddhism. This paper analyses five main female characters with a special focus on their values towards love, marriage and life, attempting to describe the “perfect” woman in Lin Yutang’s mind.

摘要: 《京华烟云》是林语堂先生最为之自豪的书之一，全书包括三个部分，讲述了从义和团运动到五四运动期间，姚，曾，牛三家的兴衰史。在作品中，作者向人们展示了以姚木兰为核心的众女性在道家思想，儒家思想，以及佛家思想影响下所产生的不同的婚姻，爱情以及生活态度。本文通过分析姚木兰等主要女性的爱情， 婚姻， 生活观，试图向我们展示林语堂心目中的完美女性形象。
