Abstract: Pride and Prejudice is a masterpiece written by Jane Austen, of which the main topic is love and marriage. In the story,Austen writes four different marriages which represent four different typical marital views that still exist at present, such as marriage based on wealth and social status, marriage based on temporary passion, marriage based on love and responsibility, etc. In the vivid portraying of the four marriages, Austen presents her own view on love and marriage. This thesis will mainly discuss the four couples and their marriages, as well as their marital life to analyze the economic influence on marriage in Pride and Prejudice.
