Abstract: Based on the Interest Theory and Second Language Acquisition Theory, this paper tries to analyze the current situation of primary school English teaching and primary school English extracurricular activities, and aims to study the theory and practice of English extracurricular activities in stimulating interest in learning, explore ways to stimulate and enhance pupils' interest in learning English, and clarify the status and role of English extracurricular activities in primary English teaching. The second language acquisition theory suggests that English extra-curricular activities are an integral part of learning English, they can stimulate pupils’ interest in learning and provide authentic language practice environment in order to enhance pupils' communicative competence. This study tries to improve pupils' learning interest and learning efficiency through the medium of English extracurricular activities, thus change the traditional examination-oriented education model, and build a more ideal model for primary school English Teaching.
