Abstract:This paper will focus on the duty and responsibility in “The Death of The Hired Man” by Robert Frost. He describes the conversation between the farmer Warren and his wife Marry, and the theme is about their hired man, Silas. From this poem, we can see that Frost wants to show a very important theme to readers: the duty and responsibility. The paper will explore the duty and responsibility of Warren and Silas from the conversation; and analyze the duty and responsibility of Silas and the couple. This paper will also explain the idea of Robert Frost：The duty and responsibility are mutual. Only those who can take responsibility for others will earn others’ respect.

摘要:本文的关注点在于弗罗斯特《帮工之死》中所反映的责任与义务。罗伯特·弗罗斯特在《帮工之死》这首诗描写了农场主Warren和其妻子Mary的对话。通过对对话的描写，弗罗斯特向读者表达了人与人之间的一个重要主题：责任与义务。本文将从诗中农场男主人和妻子关于他们帮工的对话入手，分析农场帮工Silas与二人之间的责任与义务的关系，文章的意图在于诠释弗罗斯特对人与人之间责任与义务关系的思想。同时本文重点解决的问题和选题意义在于通过对《帮工之死》的文本解读，阐述弗罗斯特所表达的观点：责任与义务是相互的，只有那些对别人尽到责任和义务的人，才能得到尊重。
