Abstract: With the popularization of English, English news has apparently become a method for people to gain information. Therefore, understanding and mastering the features of English news is very crucial. Stylistic features of English News are clarity and conciseness, and readers can understand the news easily. In addition, English news has its specific characteristics. This thesis studies its features of professional vocabulary by analyzing English News from British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) and China Daily: specialization, standardization, and written English. The thesis briefly analyses the features of professional vocabulary in English news to help reduce the barriers in reading. Therefore the readers can get a better understanding of English news and the exchanges among different nations are promoted.
